Matthew V. Pixa

Matthew V. Pixa is the President and founder of My Portfolio Guide, LLC. Matt Pixa grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and at a very young age learned from a World War II Veteran father who grew up in the Great Depression that money and resources are to be managed prudently. Matt's curiosity and passion for investing was further sparked during the stock market crash of 1987. Being a new investor without any guidance and coupled with the dramatic events of that period, an interest and passion for becoming a student of the markets was born.

Matt later studied Economics and earned a Bachelor's degree while also competing as a student-athlete for California State University Long Beach. After advancing his career for 12 years he decided to return to graduate school and further his business and finance education by earning an MBA from the W.P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University.

Matt was trained and worked as an investment advisor for several of the largest and most widely respected brokerage firms on Wall Street as well as one of the most eminent private wealth management firms in the nation. Early on in his financial career, he learned that most "advisors" are actually not trained to give unbiased investment advice. Many simply get licensed and then are employed as salespeople to pitch products or build a book of business that is only scalable by outsourcing the relationship to others. It becomes a numbers game and what typically gets left behind is the best interest of the client. Along with his extensive background in finance, Matt's time working at Deloitte enabled him to understand the demands of maintaining independence requirements for Partners and executives from the Big Four accounting and consulting firms. This in turn created a niche in serving this type of time strapped and compliance constrained professional..

Matt Pixa lives in Seal Beach, CA with his wife Cecilia, daughter Isabel, and son Lance. As a family the Pixas are involved in several Orange County charities, through their church at Saint Joseph, and with several non-profits such as Care for the Poor and Taller San Jose. Matt enjoys coaching youth sports for his children's teams and also competes in Ironman triathlons as a way to stay fit, disciplined, and blow off any left over energy.

Both partners competed athletically in college and understand the balances between academics and the demands of being a disciplined athlete. Matt Blake competed as a varsity water polo player and swimmer in Southern California and then completed his studies at Colorado State University. After earning his Bachelor of Science degree, Matt worked in the private equity sector and then decided to enter the financial industry by learning from some of the most eminent names on Wall Street. He was trained and licensed at Prudential Securities where he worked primarily with affluent individuals and business owners managing diverse portfolios. From there Matt excelled on the management side of the financial services industry, he assisted with opening and managing a retail branch with Charles Schwab & Company in the Denver Tech Center area where he was a member of the Circle of Excellence. He then assisted with creating and managing a national sales team for Jackson National Life. After gaining valuable experience in the insurance side of the business Matt went back to his core strength of working with individuals and personally guiding them through their complex financial lives. He joined a Denver based RIA firm in 2005 and was a member of the team that drove the firm to national recognition for growth and client retention through some very challenging economic environments.

Combining the experiences of retail and institutional financial services, insurance planning and portfolio management, led Matt to the position of Principal with My Portfolio Guide, LLC where he can provide all of this at the most ethical and highest service levels possible.
